THE GREAT MacDADDY by Paul Carter Harrison, Summer 2012 AT THEATRE ROW
THE GREAT MacDADDY is one of the seminal works of the Negro Ensemble Company. Alfred Preisser Productions, The International Studio Theatre and The Negro Ensemble Company are partnering to present the first New York revival of this OBIE Award winning play in over thirty years during the 2012 season. Opening is set for July 2012.

Originally staged in a 1974 production that featured Al Freeman, Jr., Phylicia Rashad, Cleavon Little and Hattie Winston, The Great MacDaddy is an episodic journey across 20th century America. The play's language and dramatic form is steeped in the oral tradition of African American folklore, a verbal history of vital importance that is in danger of disappearing. Its theatrical employment of the archetypal characters from the African American oral tradition is wholly unique.

THE MAN WHO ATE MICHAEL ROCKEFELLER
, a play dealing with culture clash surrounding Michael Rockefeller's anthropological study of the Asmat people in New Guinea, was a solid critical and popular hit in 2011. Rockefeller will be going on tour in the Fall of 2012, and is currently entertaining invites from international theatre festivals. Standby for venues and dates.

THE SOAP MYTH by Jeffrey Cohen, 2012
The Soap Myth explores the phenomenon of holocaust denial from both an individual and institutional perspective. The raw experience of an aging survivor, Milton Saltzman, is pitted against the institutional and evidentiary demands of The National Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. Will Saltzman's own personal experience and testament disappear with the passage of time? Does history and pedagogy have the capacity to capture the truth of events that defy comprehension by those who did not experience them in the first person? And what will happen when all of the witnesses, all of the "first persons" have passed and can no longer speak for themselves?
